Online retailers are to benefit from the latest expansion of delivery services offered at the Post Office.

The Post Office has announced that people using DPD or Evri will be able to use their stores in time for Christmas deliveries.

It’s the first time in the Post Office’s 360-year history that customers can use a parcel carrier other than Royal Mail over the counter.

This parnership means people can choose DPD, Evri, or Royal Mail when sending and receiving parcels from the Post Office.

Neill O’Sullivan, Managing Director of Parcels and Mails at Post Office, said: “Post Office is innovating to meet changing customer preferences and the increasingly competitive market.”

If you’re a small online retailer or sell to customers on sites like Etsy, keep reading to find out how this announcement might affect your small business.

Selected branches

The Post Office hopes to create a ‘one-stop hub for customers’ by offering more delivery options. However, DPD and Evri services will only be available at selected branches in time for the peak Christmas delivery season.

The Post Office hasn’t confirmed exact dates and branches that will benefit from the new services.

‘Greater choice for customers’

Nick Read, CEO at Post Office, said: “This expanded partnership with DPD and Evri shows how we are disrupting the mails market to offer greater choice for customers and more opportunities for Postmasters as we build a Post Office fit for the future.”
